About the Instructor:

Holden Bussey

Having grown up in his parents' natural foods cafe, good food has always been an important aspect of Holden's life. Through his cooking classes, he aims at affording each of his students the same opportunity. Each young chef will gain an understanding how food makes them feel - and why - as well as develop the skills for autonomy over one's diet. These classes allow students to approach food in a light, playful manner, while simultaneously understanding the implications of personal diet decisions.

Holden's background includes time spent on farms, namely oyster farming, as well as working in kitchens throughout the Bay Area. When not teaching, you can find him helping out the team at Komaaj, Farming Hope, as well as at the Berkeley Food Network, or simply enjoying a good hike in Joaquin Miller park.
